Chinanews.com April 2nd. The General Administration of Customs issued the “Warning Notice on the Potential Risk of Spontaneous Combustion of Some Imported Audi Cars” (hereinafter referred to as “Announcement”) on the official website on the 2nd. The "Announcement" pointed out that when the customs conducted inspections on imported cars at the port recently, two imported Audi cars (type A5 2.0T F5SDKYAF6A0) spontaneously ignited in the container. The General Administration of Customs has suspended the import of vehicles of this model.

The investigation was organized by the General Administration of Customs and confirmed by Audi. The reason for the spontaneous combustion of the vehicle was that the conductive bracket of the starter motor had an internal short circuit risk due to manufacturing and assembly process problems. Audi has provided a list of imported Audi brand vehicles equipped with the same starting motors (for the list of problem vehicles, see the attachment), including A4 2.0T, A5 2.0T, A6 2.0T, A7 2.0T models, and some vehicles have entered the domestic market. Audi will eliminate the risk by replacing the new safe start motor.

The General Administration of Customs has required local customs to strictly implement inspections on imported vehicles and ensure that imported vehicles have been replaced with new-type safe start motors.
