A private survey found that about 40% of companies postponing the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics think they are "having an impact on their business" or "may be affected in the future."

The survey was conducted by private credit research firm "Tokyo Shoko Research" last month from 27 to 31. More than 10,000 companies, large and small companies in total, responded.

When asked about the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics due to the spread of the new coronavirus, they said that corporate activities were "already affected" or "may be affected in the future". Totaled 4588 companies, accounting for 41% of the total.

Specifically, 2,602 companies changed production schedules and construction schedules related to the Olympics, and 1216 companies delayed or canceled related events.

According to the research company, "In addition to the effects of the spread of the new coronavirus, sales may be reduced due to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. More funding support is likely to be needed."
