The Department of Trade Control and Consumer Protection of the Dubai Economic Department imposed financial penalties on nine pharmacies and two companies working in the field of supplying pharmaceutical supplies, for deliberately exaggerating the prices of selling masks to exaggerated levels, and taking advantage of the high demand for sterilization and prevention requirements in the wake of the global “Corona” virus outbreak.


The commercial monitoring and consumer protection sector had received complaints from consumers, after which the specialized team would study the relevant details through inspection campaigns on the nine pharmacies located in Al Wasl, Naif, Ibn Battuta Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Al Khawaneej, Mirdif and Jumeirah.


And it was found that she committed these abuses, to deserve, as a result of that, to direct violations to them, as a penalty for violating the consumer protection laws in force in the Emirate of Dubai.


As for the suppliers, their violations were detected after tracking their operations with pharmacies, and they supplied face masks at very high prices.


Dubai Economy confirmed that in the event of a repeat offense, it would resort to doubling the value of the financial fine, as the penalties amounted to the closure of the commercial establishment.
