In today's report, the World Bank expected that the Corona epidemic would seriously damage efforts to combat poverty in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, warning that the more pessimistic scenario expects the number of poor people in this region to increase rather than decrease.

The Washington-based bank said that, compared to previous forecasts for the epidemic, the most optimistic scenario indicates that 24 million people expected to be out of poverty this year will continue to live on less than $ 5.5 a day.

If the more bleak scenario occurs, according to the bank, the number of poor people in this region will increase by 11 million due to the emerging Corona virus, rather than decreasing.
