“Current bank accounts, the rate of which does not exceed 1%, in particular, these are the salary accounts of citizens, are generally excluded from the tax calculation," RIA Novosti quoted Mishustin as saying.

He also noted that the first 60 thousand rubles of interest income will not be taxed.

“Only amounts exceeding this level will fall under the tax,” the prime minister specified.

On March 31, the State Duma adopted a law introducing taxation of interest on deposits of more than 1 million rubles.

Earlier, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov explained in what cases a tax on interest on bank deposits of more than 1 million rubles will be levied.
