The private shipping companies Corsica Linea (ex-SNCM) and La Méridionale announced on Tuesday that they had "reached an agreement" to present a "common response" to the next public service market in Corsica awarded for seven years and starting in January 2021.

"This agreement, which is based on the complementarity of the two companies, will make it possible to formulate a response in line with the requirements of the call for tenders, while preserving their respective economic and social balances", specify the two companies in a joint press release. .

The blocking of the port of Marseille continues

Since January 10, strikers from La Méridionale, a company belonging to the Stef logistics group, have been blocking two of their boats and three from the Corsica Linea in the port of Marseille, at the call of the Corsican workers' union (STC) and the CFTC of La Méridionale.

They notably asked for the conclusion of an agreement between their company and Corsica Linea to share the future service of the five Corsican ports (Ajaccio, Bastia, L'Ile Rousse, Porto-Vecchio and Propriano) from Marseille.

Cyril Venouil, STC delegate at La Méridionale, said that this agreement did not mean lifting the blockages at the port of Marseille: "We have all the social aspects to discuss. Nothing has been lifted yet ”.
