• U.S. Trump imposes new import tariffs on Chinese products

China announced on Friday the imposition of tariffs on goods of the United States (US) worth 75,000 million dollars as a countermeasure to US tariffs, as reported by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.

According to the document, the tariffs will begin to be applied on September 1 , the same date on which the new rates of the US power to products of the Asian giant for 300,000 million dollars announced by the US president, Donald Trump, will enter into force.

The Customs Tariffs Commission of the State Council has specified that, among these tariffs, the resumption of additional tariffs of 25% or 5% for imported vehicles and US-manufactured components from December 15 is included.

According to the Foreign statement, Trump's tariffs have resulted in a "sustained escalation of economic and trade friction " between the two countries, "greatly damaging the interests of China and other countries, seriously threatening the multilateral system. of commerce and the principle of free trade. "

China also says that these measures are a "forced response" to unilateralism and US trade protectionism, and urges Washington to "cooperate" to "reach an acceptable solution for both of them and mutually beneficial.

The US Government warned on August 1 of the imposition of new 10% tariffs on Chinese imports valued at $ 300 billion as of September 1, despite trade negotiations between the two countries still standing.

Last week and in reaction to Trump's announcement, China announced that it would retaliate against the "serious violation" of the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries in the rounds of negotiations that have been keeping officials of the two great powers for months.

Prior to this announcement, a delegation from the Chinese Executive was scheduled to travel to Washington at the beginning of September to continue negotiations on a future trade agreement, a meeting that remains in the air after this decision.
