A 552-carat diamond, the largest in North America, has been found in a mine in northwest Canada, a California-based news agency reported.

According to reports, diamond mining company "Dominion Diamond Mines" has discovered the diamond in the Diabig Diamond mine in the Northwest Territory of Canada last October.

Diamond has a short side diameter of 33.74 mm and a long side diameter of 54.56 mm.

The company said it would not sell 552 carat diamonds in the form of stones.

The value of the diamond is difficult to estimate at this time, the company explained.

The largest size of diamonds found in the Diabig mine was 187.7 carats.
