Syrian leaders and media close to the regime have not reacted to the announcement of the end of the self-proclaimed caliphate and have ignored the call for dialogue Kurds, winners of the Islamic State group in their last cut in Baghouz.

With our correspondent in Beirut, Paul Khalifeh

Armed with their victory over the Islamic State group, the Kurds, the main components of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), invited the Syrian government to choose the path of dialogue.

At a press conference on Saturday, an SDF official called on Damascus to recognize the Kurdish autonomy in the areas they control in the north-east and east of Syria.

After the SDF victory in Baghouz, Syrian leaders and media close to the regime observed a deafening silence. The official news agency has not even reported the capture of Baghouz and the announcement of the end of the self-proclaimed Caliphate.

Sana devoted most of his coverage to demonstrations by the Druze inhabitants of the Golan Heights against the announcement by Donald Trump of the recognition of Israeli sovereignty on this plateau occupied in 1967.

No reaction either to the call for dialogue launched by the Kurds in the wake of their victory.

The Syrian authorities do not recognize the autonomy established by the Kurds and invite them to return to the fold of the state, according to official terminology.
