A tense election campaign is taking place in Israel amidst three corruption cases affecting Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. In recent days, posters have appeared that attack journalists who investigate these cases.

With our correspondent in Jerusalem, Michel Paul

Four prominent Israeli journalists appear on these huge posters that appeared in Tel Aviv and along the roads in Israel. Their common point: they investigate corruption cases targeting the Israeli Prime Minister.

The poster is anonymous, and its only text is the following words: " It's not up to them to decide ." This is pure incitement to violence against us, says Guy Pelled, a reporter for the second TV channel on the billboard and every night brings new details on the investigations against Benyamin Netanyahu.

" What really concerns us, adds the journalist, is who is behind this poster ." Netanyahu, the outgoing prime minister leads by far in the polls published by the press. But the publication of an indictment for corruption prior to the April 9th poll could of course cast doubt on the outcome of the vote.

Mr. Netanyahu repeatedly in televised statements and posts on his Facebook page asked the Attorney General to postpone a possible indictment in the aftermath of the elections.

For its part, the Israeli prosecutor's office maintains that magistrates will continue to do their work without taking into account the pressure exerted on them.
