Fuel prices have gone down 22 cents per liter compared to last November's highs. As the car club ADAC announced, cost a liter of super E10 in the daily average of 1.31 euros. That was 2.1 cents less than a week ago. Diesel cost about half a cent less with 1.23 euros.

At the same time, the difference between the two fuel types is becoming ever smaller. Currently, it is only eight cents. But there is a much larger difference in taxation compared to: One liter of gas accounts for 65.4 cents of mineral oil tax, 47 cents for diesel. According to ADAC, the reason for the comparatively high diesel prices is the demand for heating oil, which is usually increased in winter. The crude oil price for a barrel (159 liters) of the North Sea Brent is currently at $ 61.7.

In November of last year, the low water level of the Rhine had increased fuel prices neatly - because the inland vessels, which drive the oil from the refineries to tank farms, could only be loaded up to half due to the low water level. The continuing drought led to supply bottlenecks at gas stations, even petrol and diesel from the national oil reserve were released.

At the beginning of December, the Rhine again brought more water after heavy rains. Fuel prices, however, remained high - although prices on the crude oil market fell dramatically. The ADAC therefore called for massive price reductions.

The ADAC recommends that you observe the regular fluctuations in fuel prices throughout the day. According to an evaluation of the club, the best times for refueling between 15 and 17 clock and 19 and 22 clock.
