Hello Daniel Fortin, this is not very good news for the French economy, corporate bankruptcies have gone up again at the end of last year and especially the phenomenon is expected to increase this year

Yes then 54,600 companies very exactly went bankrupt in 2018. This is a figure slightly down from the previous year but what counts is the gold trend since the middle of last year bankruptcies go back to the up + 2.3% according to the firm Altares which gives these figures, and this year, in 2019 so, it could be worse, why? Because when we look at the numbers, it is the big SMEs who suffer the most, those who make more than 100 employees and if they fall well they bring in their fall smaller subcontractors, in total, it is estimated today more than 170,000 jobs threatened by this domino effect.

But why this recovery of bankruptcies?

So there are several reasons, first of all the fall in building permits at the end of last year that hit hard the construction sector, then the slightest growth in consumption of the French with very visible consequences in services. to individuals and the automobile and then more recently the demonstration of "yellow vests" have weakened many companies that were already fragile.

But can we already measure the impact of "yellow vests" on the failures of these companies?

So it's still a little early but it's sure it will be significant, the few indicators available today are all in the same direction, this movement has already done a lot of damage to the economy, we know for example that since the beginning of the demonstrations, 64,000 employees have been placed in partial unemployment because of the collapse of sales in the shops, we also know that the activity lost in November and December in the restoration or tourism will be found again not and so what can be said at this point is that the "yellow vests" were not the trigger of the difficulties of companies but they have accelerated considerably.
