Sumo yokozuna Terunofuji will be donating a sumo ring to a park in Yokohama, and he visited City Hall to hand over a list to the mayor.

Terunofuji made a proposal to the City of Yokohama for this event in order to get as many children as possible familiar with sumo, and a ring was set up at Shin-Yokohama Park near JR Shin-Yokohama Station.

On the afternoon of the 8th, Terunofuji visited Yokohama City Hall and handed Mayor Yamanaka a list and a panel depicting the ring.

The dohyo that will be prepared will be approximately 7 meters square and will have a roof, and the necessary costs will be borne by Terunofuji and the supporting association, and it is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Terunofuji says that he would like to donate sumo rings to other local governments across the country, saying, ``I had talked with all the supporters about wanting to create as many places as possible for children to practice sumo, so I'm glad that we were able to make that happen.'' I'm really happy. I hope that some wrestlers who can aim to become professionals in the future will come out of this sumo ring.''

Mayor Yamanaka said, ``I hope it will be a place for children to interact and grow.I want to further increase the passion for sumo in Yokohama.''
