A rare phenomenon attracts tourists and Sicilians around Etna. Since the beginning of April, the volcano has been spewing almost perfect smoke rings into the sky that can reach several tens of meters in diameter.

These circles are not composed of smoke, but of bubbles of volcanic gas that rise from the magma chamber. These gases rise through very narrow conduits which explode on the surface. It is the friction in these walls which gives this ring shape that tourists have been able to immortalize on social networks.
