Belarusian rebels on the Sakharov Prize for human rights protection in the European Parliament October 23, 5:08

The European Parliament of the EU-European Union has announced that it has selected Belarusian rebels who continue to protest the president as winners of the "Sakharov Prize" for those who have contributed to the protection of human rights.

The Sakharov Prize is given annually by the European Parliament to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the protection of human rights in honor of former Soviet physicist Andrei Sakharov, who won the Nobel Prize.

European Parliament Speaker Sassori announced on the 22nd that he has chosen Belarusian rebels as the winners of this year.

In Belarus, citizens have rebelled against the fact that President Lukashenko was elected in the presidential election in August, and large-scale protests are continuing.

"We commend them for their courage, strength and determination. They are determined to face much stronger enemies," Sassori explained.

"This award is given to all Belarusians who continue their peaceful struggle," said a group of rebels Chihanovskaya, who continue to work towards the resignation of President Lukashenko. I posted it on SNS and expressed my determination to put more effort into the activity.

The EU has imposed sanctions since this month for the Belarusian government's election fraud and violence against its citizens in subsequent protests, and urges dialogue with the rebels.
