New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has imposed a curfew at 11 p.m. in his city, when violent riots take place there. These protests follow the death, in a brutal arrest, of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American man. Since this tragedy, many Americans have beaten the pavement against racism and police violence.

New York, like many American cities, has been the scene for several days of sometimes violent demonstrations. The mayor, Bill de Blasio, therefore imposed a curfew in the Big Apple on Monday between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. A measure which aims to calm the clashes between police and demonstrators. The latter have protested racism and police violence since the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American, during a brutal arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A policeman had held his neck with his knee for long minutes, while the forties complained that he was unable to breathe.
