The motorhome seduces more and more French people who want to go on holiday and the municipalities are the first delighted. This summer, more than 600,000 of these vehicles are expected on the roads of France to better visit France. Areas are also set up to accommodate them.

More than a million and a half holidaymakers will travel aboard their motorhome this summer and the vast majority of them will remain in France. In recent years, this mobile home has attracted more and more French people to visit the interior of the country more effectively. Olivier Coudret, general manager of Camping-Car Park, returns to the microphone of Europe 1, on the regions that are more popular than the others. Among the winners: Brittany.

More than €1.3 billion injected into the economy

"It remains the preferred destination for motorhome owners, especially ahead of all other destinations such as Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie," said Olivier Coudret. To cope with the growing demand, some mayors are preparing the ground as best they can. This is the case of Yves Bleunven, the mayor of Grand-Champ, in Morbihan. The latter installed an area for motorhomes three years ago. And the attractiveness was felt "from its start".

"In May we received 350 motorhomes, when in May last year we had 110," explained Yves Bleunven at the microphone of Europe 1. The average daily expenditure of the motorhome operator is between 50 and 70 euros. A significant financial windfall for the municipalities but also for traders and the entire tourism sector. In 2022, these holidaymakers brought in more than €1.3 billion.
