The Barcelona pizzeria Sartoria Panatieri has been chosen as the best pizzeria in Europe in 2023, according to data from 'Top Pizza', the most important online guide in the sector.
Specifically, the pizzeria of Rafa Panatieri and Jorge Sastre, has also won the special award Pizza of the Year 2023-Latteria Sorrentina, for its sauce of roasted cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil hollanda, at a gala that was held today in Barcelona.
Behind the Spanish is Bæst, the pizzeria that the Italian Christian Puglisi has in Copenhagen, while in third place is 50 Kalò, by Ciro Salvo in London.
For its part, Madrid's Fratelli Figurato gives up four places compared to last year and is in sixth position, while La Balmesina (Barcelona) closes the continental 'top-10'.
Spain also has four other pizzerias among the 50 best in Europe such as Madrid's Baldoria, which comes directly in 13th place; Bilbao's Demaio, who rises to 17th place; Tenerife's Oro di Napoli (41) and Alicante's Infraganti Pizza Bar, which is ranked 45th.
On the other hand, the set of environmentally conscious pizzerias in Europe continues to grow in Europe, so this year six Green Oven awards have been awarded, the symbol that distinguishes the establishment's commitment to environmental sustainability.
Sartoria Panatieri in Barcelona; Bæst in Copenhagen; Forza in Helsinki; La Pizza è Bella Gourmet in Brussels; MO de Movimiento in Madrid and Flat Earth, in London make up the sextet of European pizzerias awarded for their sustainable practices.
Spain has become the most represented country in this guide, which already includes 33 countries, with a total of 17 pizzerias, followed by England with 16, Germany with 15 and France with 13.
