According to information from Europe 1, two fifty-year-olds were arrested by the police of the Sûreté du Rhône for at least 4 burglaries at the homes of players and staff of the Olympique Lyonnais football club. A list of 12 addresses of professional players was also found.

The facts were committed between December 22, 2022 and February 28. At least three players from the Olympique Lyonnais football team and a staff coach were victims of burglaries or attempted break-ins while they were travelling or training. Thanks to video surveillance, two individuals were formally identified by investigators from the Rhône departmental security.

Two men aged 51 and 57, both known to police. Thiago Mendes had been the victim of a burglary on New Year's Eve. Shortly before, it was his former Lyon teammates Karl Toko-Ekambi and Jeff Reine-Adelaide who had been targeted.

An address list of 12 football players

Closely followed by the police, the two criminals were arrested on Saint-Etienne on Tuesday when they had just committed a new burglary in Firminy. The fruit of this new theft was found by investigators: jewelry, gold coins and an Audi Q5 vehicle.

At their home, located in municipalities of the walkie-talkies agglomeration, a balaclava, license plate games and an alarm gun were seized. Even more astonishing, the police came across a handwritten list with the personal addresses of twelve professional football players from Lyon, Monaco, Nice and Montpellier. According to the statements in custody of one of the suspects, they obtained this list through an intermediary to whom he was in debt. They were presented to justice and were to pass this Friday in immediate appearance before the judicial court of Lyon for a series of at least 8 burglaries.
