A 20-year-old man has been arrested after driving a Porsche drunk on a highway and causing an accident.

A police officer in the Porsche was killed in the crash.

Jeonju Deokjin Police Station announced today (2nd) that it has arrested A (29) on charges of violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (dangerous driving).

Mr. A, who was drunk, is accused of crashing into a 4.5t truck that was ahead near Jeonju IC on the Honam Expressway at 1:30 am on October 26 of last year.

Incumbent police officer B, who was riding in the passenger seat, died at the scene.

At the time, Mr. A's blood alcohol level was the license revocation level.

Immediately after the accident, Mr. A fled into the woods next to the highway and was found by a truck driver who was looking at the scene.

Police investigation revealed that Mr. A initially told the truck driver, "I drank and drove," but changed his words to "that friend drove" when he saw Mr. B, who died.

The police confirmed that Mr. A and Mr. B drank together at a bar in Wanju-gun, and that Mr. A was in the driver's seat and Mr. B was in the passenger's seat.

A police official said, "We arrested Mr. A because there was a fear of escape," and said, "A's charges are recognized under various circumstances."
