On June 12 of last year, the 1,500-ton frigate Jeonnam belonging to the 3rd Fleet of the Navy began to leave the waters where it was performing its mission.

She reported to superiors that equipment had broken during the maneuver and needed urgent repair.

The Jeonnam ship entered the nearby Jeju base around 6:30 am the next day.

As the Jeonnam ship departed, other waiting ships were put into guard duty.

However, three and a half hours after entering the port, it was confirmed that the captain, Lieutenant Colonel A, attended the inauguration ceremony for his direct superior in Jeju.

As a result of the investigation by the military authorities, there was no malfunction on the Jeonnam ship from the beginning.

The Navy, which found out this fact through inspections, continued the investigation by proposing the captain, Lieutenant Colonel A, and four working-level workers who were instructed on charges of abuse of power and writing false public documents.

Summarizing the statements of those involved, on June 12, Lieutenant Colonel A called his men to the captain's office and instructed them to report 'the equipment is broken and they want to enter Jeju Port'.

As a result, working-level workers hurriedly wrote an official document requesting emergency repairs, and after approval by Lieutenant Colonel A, etc., false reports were made to the repair window of the 3rd Fleet Command of the Navy.

Lieutenant Colonel A denied all charges, saying, "I just received a report of equipment failure and instructed follow-up measures," but the working-level staff were found to have stated to the effect that they wrote a false official document after receiving instructions from the captain to attend the inauguration ceremony. .

In a phone call with SBS, Lieutenant Colonel A said, "It is an inappropriate case to talk about," saying, "The investigation is in progress and the positions of both sides are in dispute."

It is known that the Ministry of National Defense also classifies the departure of the Jeonnam ship as an important case and is watching the Navy investigation.
