A woman in her 60s who extorted 3.2 billion won for 8 years by approaching an elementary school classmate who had lost her husband due to an extreme choice and encouraging her to do good was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

This woman deceived the victim by saying, 'If you don't do an exorcism, her husband will wander around the world.' The victim, who runs a snack bar in a traditional market, sold all of her real estate and lost all of her property, only to realize that she was a victim of fraud.

Chuncheon District Court Wonju Branch Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Shin Gyo-sik) sentenced 61-year-old A to 10 years in prison for violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment (Fraud) of Specific Economic Crimes.

According to court rulings, the case goes back to 2013, 10 years ago.

The victim, 61-year-old B, who runs a snack bar in a traditional market, suffered so much that she could not lead a normal life due to her husband's extreme choice in early February of that year.

Mr. A, an elementary school classmate who learned of Mr. B’s situation while working at a nearby restaurant, encouraged Mr. A by saying, “I have to do a gut for my dead husband. paid

At first, it started with 700,000 won, but after that, the amount of damage gradually increased.

To Mr. B, 'There is a novelty.

To prevent this, you must do good.

Otherwise, I will not be able to live a normal life because my son will die.”

Mr. A was arrested and indicted in October of last year on charges of intercepting 3.298 billion won in the name of the family's good payment over a total of 584 times for 8 years until February 24, 2021.

It was revealed that Mr. B prepared the money for the good in cash and handed it to Mr. A even while disposing of all the various real estates he owned.

At the trial, Mr. A argued that "he admitted to receiving the money, but it was borrowed money and part of it was paid back, so it cannot be said that he intercepted all the amount in the indictment."

However, as a result of the investigative agency's investigation, it was found that the amount A remitted to the victim B's bank account was 68 million won, and most of the received amount was used for living expenses or retirement funds.

The judge said, "It is acknowledged that the defendant swindled a large amount of money by taking advantage of his unfortunate family history over a long period of eight years, even though he had no intention or ability to perform a gut for the victim or ask a shaman to perform a gut."

In addition, he said, "The circumstances and motive of the crime are very bad, such as using the stolen money for living expenses or for one's family." "he added.
