A college student mother who tried to kill her newborn son by leaving it in the toilet was sentenced to prison, and a mother's friend who took the baby to her house but could not save it was sentenced to not guilty.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Daegu District Court sentenced a 21-year-old college student, A, who was charged with attempted infanticide to four years in prison, and acquitted his friend, B, who was accused of infanticide. , After the pregnancy, it was investigated that they shared the situation with each other and planned and attempted an abortion.

After several failed abortions, Mr. A gave birth to a baby boy alone in the bathroom of his studio in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk on March 11 last year, left it in the toilet, covered it, and went out.

Mr. B went to Mr. A's house on the same day, found his baby, washed it in warm water, wrapped it in a T-shirt, and took it to his house in Buk-gu, Daegu.

Then, the baby was covered with a blanket, placed on an electric pad, water was given, the temperature was measured, and the condition was checked, but it was investigated that no formula was given.

The child died the next morning, and the cause of death was analyzed as hypothermia and malnutrition.

Mr. A admitted his charges during the trial, but Mr. B denied the charges, saying that he was only trying to save the baby.

The court judged that Mr. A was murder, saying that he had neglected the baby with the mind that he could not help it even if the baby died.

However, Mr. B seems to have a heart to save the baby until the end, and he acquitted, saying that it would have been difficult to take care of the baby for the first time and to take protective measures beyond the mother.
