Lee Jae-myung, the representative of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was designated as the "endpoint" of the Wirye/Daejang-dong development corruption investigation, appeared at the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office as a suspect.
In September 2021, it has been 1 year and 4 months since the suspicion of Daejang-dong was first raised.
Representative Lee arrived at the road outside the prosecutor's office at around 10:20 am today (28th) and got out of his vehicle to greet supporters.
He subsequently made his position as he stood in the prisoner line, moving back to the Central Prosecutor's Office by car.
Representative Lee said, "This is the scene where the dictatorship of Prosecutor Yoon Seok-yeol destroyed the rule of law and the constitutional order."
Representative Lee, as the final decision-maker in the Wirye and Daejang-dong development projects while serving as Seongnam Mayor, is accused of leaking internal secrets of Seongnam City or Seongnam Urban Development Corporation to private contractors to make huge profits (violation of the Anti-Corruption Act).
He is also accused of causing a large amount of damage to Seongnam City (business malpractice) by failing to obtain additional profits other than the fixed profit of 182.2 billion won while making the final decision to remove the provision for redemption of excess profits.
It is the prosecution's judgment that private businessmen were able to make unfair profits, such as 788.6 billion won from the Daejang-dong project and 21.1 billion won from the Wirye New Town project.
Previously, on the 10th, CEO Lee was summoned and investigated by the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office for 'suspicion of donations to Seongnam FC'.
