Lead] On the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday, snow and strong winds hit Jeju, paralyzing the airport and trapping 40,000 people, including returnees.

The sea is also very stormy, so most local passenger ships are unable to depart.

This is the first news, reporter Noh Dong-gyu's report.

Today (24th), all 476 flights to and from Jeju were canceled.

This is because strong winds are blowing in Jeju and a strong wind warning has been issued.

About 43,000 passengers, including those who spent the Lunar New Year holiday in Jeju, were stranded.

Jeju Airport has been busy since morning with passengers looking for alternative flights.

[Kim Eun-jin/Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do: I checked the ticket over the phone, but now I can't connect.

I'm going to look for tickets for the 25th or 26th and get them if I can get them...

A strong wind warning is scheduled until tomorrow morning.

Jeju Airport plans to increase temporary flights when flights resume.

The Jeju Regional Aviation Administration asked passengers to check the flight schedule in advance before going to the airport.

Storm warnings are also in effect for most of the sea, and passenger ship operations across the country are also disrupted.

Currently, out of 155 ships on 100 routes across the country, passenger ships are either suspended or unable to depart from all regional ports except for Tongyeong.

If you plan to return from the island area, you should first check whether the ferry is operating before heading out to the pier.
