On social media, there have been cases of damage from users who said their accounts were stolen from the online shopping mall Gmarket (Gmarket).

Recently, in online communities and social media, there have been cases of damages in which gift certificates purchased through Gmarket have been processed as 'used' or attempted payment through simple payment services.

Gmarket users said, "I tried to use the Culture Land mobile gift certificate I bought in early January, but it says that someone charged it two days ago", "When I tried to use the Book & Life gift certificate I bought a few days ago, it was processed as game money", "Gmarket Cultureland gift certificates of 500,000 won were stolen.

Some users also shared another damage situation they were experiencing, saying, "I was doing something at home, and a notification of a simple payment attempt came."

This situation began to be shared through some online communities from the 10th, and on the 19th, logins were temporarily suspended, and users' anxiety is growing.

However, Gmarket has yet to issue any related notices or damage measures.

In addition to changing passwords or deleting registered card and account information, users are in an atmosphere of sharing countermeasures, saying, "Withdraw or use gift certificates quickly."

The cause of this incident has not yet been accurately identified, but Gmarket said that it is estimated that the damage was caused by the theft of personal information of some users, not the leakage of consumer information at the company level.

Gmarket said, "Such damage occurred mainly to customers who use the same ID and password on multiple sites."
