Last year, there was an incident where a student at Inha University died after being sexually assaulted.

The perpetrator was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors asked for life imprisonment on charges of murder due to 'intentional negligence', saying that the perpetrator pushed and fell even though he was aware of the possibility of death if the victim fell, but this part was not recognized in today's (19th) trial.

Reporter Lee Tae-kwon will tell you more details.

In July of last year, a freshman at Inha University, Mr. Kim, tried to sexually assault a victim who was drunk in a school building, and caused her to fall from a height of 8m outside the window, killing her.

[Kim Mo/Assailant (Last July): (Do you have anything to say to the bereaved family?) I sincerely apologize to the victim and bereaved family.]

In the course of the five-month trial, the issue was whether the murder was intentional.

At the sentencing hearing, the court sentenced Kim to 20 years in prison by applying the charge of quasi-rape and manslaughter.

The prosecution did not admit the murder charges applied in the prosecution.

The judge acknowledged that Kim lifted the victim's leg and caused him to fall, but did not accept the prosecution's claim that Kim had intentional murder.

He says he let his victim crash, but didn't push him for killing purposes.

Based on forensic appraisal, the judge judged that the victim had fallen out of the window due to the principle of the lever, and that it did not appear that Kim was aware of this possibility when he lifted his leg.

However, the court emphasized that Kim's drunken state at the time of the incident and 33 statements of reflection were not considered as reasons for sentencing.

At the same time, Mr. Kim said that he had abandoned the minimum duty as a human being, such as not reporting to 119, and that the victim, who was a freshman, could not even realize his dreams and ended his life without doing anything wrong.

After the sentencing, the bereaved family members shed tears with their eyes tightly closed and their heads lowered.

The prosecution plans to review the appeal after analyzing the ruling.
