A pedestrian crossing the crosswalk died after being hit by a drunk driving vehicle and then dragged over 1km by another vehicle.

Police are investigating two drivers who ran away after causing an accident.

The Seoul Songpa Police Station announced today (18th) that it has arrested driver A in his 50s and requested an arrest warrant for taxi driver B on charges of escape and death under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

According to the police, Mr. A drove a 1 ton truck on a road in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul around 6 am on the 14th, hit a passerby crossing the crosswalk and ran away.

The victim, who was thrown out of the impact of the accident, was dragged away while being crushed by a taxi that was following him.

Police were dispatched to the scene after an eyewitness reported that a woman who had been hit by a truck was being dragged under a taxi.

After a search, the victim was found about 1.2km away from the scene of the accident, but he was already dead.

The police arrested Mr. A on the day of the accident based on eyewitness statements and closed circuit (CC) TV.

At the time, Mr. A's blood alcohol level was measured at the level of license suspension.

Taxi driver B was arrested by the police on the 16th.

Mr. B is reported to have denied the hit-and-run charge, saying, "He drove without knowing he hit a person."

The interrogation of the suspect before the arrest of Mr. B (warrant review) will be held on the 19th.

As soon as Mr. B's new recruit is secured, the police plan to reinforce the investigation into the details of the accident.
