At Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, a fierce physical fight broke out while selecting the next head monk.

In the process, one of the staff members collapsed and was taken to the hospital.

The place where the struggle took place was at the entrance to Gwaneumjeon Hall in Haeinsa Temple.

In the afternoon of the day before yesterday (16th), when an extraordinary meeting was held to elect the next head monk, the side who wanted to observe the meeting and the side who opposed it confronted each other.

During the confrontation between 50 monks and Haeinsa officials, one member of the Jongmuwon suffered a serious eye injury and was urgently transferred to the hospital.

Haeinsa is said to be experiencing internal conflict over the election of the next abbot after the resignation of the chief priest, Hyeoneung.

The police are investigating the details of the incident based on testimony and video.
