A woman in her 20s who was sentenced to probation for neglecting to care for her children, who are infants, will stand in court on the same charge.

Today (17th), the 2nd detective of the Gwangju District Court (presiding judge Park Min-woo) sentenced A (28), who was charged with violating the Child Welfare Act (child abandonment and neglect), to 1 year in prison, and completed a 40-hour child abuse treatment program. commanded.

Mr. A did not receive essential vaccinations other than the first BCG vaccination for his son, who was born on August 21, 2021. After leaving the house, he is accused of neglecting him by running away from home for a month.

During this process, her mother contacted her several times, but she reportedly turned away, saying, "Send her up for adoption."

Mr. A has a total of 4 children, and she was previously sentenced to 8 months in prison in November 2021 for 8 months of probation for failing to take necessary vaccinations and not raising them for nearly 2 years.

Mr. A had been living a difficult life without a job after being diagnosed with intellectual disability a long time ago, but the biological fathers of her children not only did not provide any financial or psychological help in raising them, but were not even contacted.

She also said that she did not know that after giving birth, she could use low-cost child care services for her child through the community center and agencies affiliated with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and that she could receive social assistance such as child support claims. It has been reported that it did not.

In the end, he was again in court for violating the Child Welfare Act (child abandonment/neglect), and this time he could not avoid imprisonment.

The judge, who looked at the case, pointed out the core of the case by mentioning the provisions of the Child Welfare Act that "the interests of children must be considered first in all activities related to children," and said, "Mr. A, more than anyone else, must raise the victim child healthy and happy. I acted irresponsibly even though I had the responsibility to do so.”

However, he said, "In a situation where the biological father has left and is alone, Mr. A cannot be blamed unconditionally, and it is questionable whether imposing a heavy sentence on the victim's only mother is in the interests of the victim."

In response, the judge said, "Even if the possibility is small, it seems desirable to have the last hope that Mr. A will take care of the children with affection and interest through correction and make sure that the mother can reach them as soon as possible." sentenced down.
