A mother in her 30s who frequently assaulted her 6-year-old daughter and left her at home alone at an internet cafe, was sentenced to a suspended prison term for child abuse.

It is revealed that the child's father also assaulted or sexually abused her daughter and was recently sentenced to a heavy sentence.

Incheon District Court Criminal 9 Exclusive (Presiding Judge Jeong Hee-young) announced today (16th) that A (31, female), who was accused of habitual child abuse under the Child Welfare Act, was sentenced to 1 year in prison and 2 years probation.

In addition, probation for Mr. A and 80 hours of child abuse recidivism prevention lectures were ordered, and he was restricted from employment in child-related institutions for 3 years.

Mr. A was handed over to trial on charges of abusing his daughter B (6) 10 times at his home in Namdong-gu, Incheon from June 2020 to April of the following year.

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A repeatedly hit her daughter's entire body, including her thighs and buttocks, with her clothes hanger because Miss B did not listen to her.

He also left her daughter alone at home a total of 65 times over 6 months and went to the PC room.

He was usually away for 2-3 hours, but there were days when he went out late at night and returned home in the morning.

It wasn't just her mother A who abused Miss B.

Her husband, Mr. C, similarly assaulted or even sexually abused her daughter, and was sentenced to 13 years in prison last month for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes and Habitual Child Abuse.

Mr. C said that he was against her mother, and kicked her out to the roof wearing only underwear in the middle of winter, or punched her in the face enough to make her nose bleed.

She also abused her by making Miss B stretch out on her stomach, then grabbing her feet and making her walk on her hands only.

Despite Mr. C's abuse, Mr. A's biological mother encouraged her abuse by pretending not to know or giving her a shoehorn or coat hanger.

However, it is known that the court favored Mr. A with a suspended sentence instead of an actual sentence, considering that Mr. C, the father of Ms. B, was in custody.

The judge pointed out that "Mr. A had the duty to raise the victim safely more than anyone else, but he habitually abused the body" and "also assisted in the abuse of his cohabitant."

At the same time, "Mr. A admitted the crime and showed an attitude of self-reflection, and he was assaulted by his cohabitant," he said. I explained why.
