The Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency and Gyeonggi-do Southern Autonomous Police Committee announced that they would implement special traffic management measures for nine days from tomorrow (16th) to the 24th in preparation for an increase in traffic volume during the Lunar New Year holiday.

During this period, the police will dispatch an average of 877 people per day, including 636 police officers and 241 exemplary drivers, to manage major transportation hubs.

Helicopters and secret patrol vehicles are also deployed.

From the 16th to the 19th, traffic control and disorderly driving crackdowns will be conducted around 99 traditional markets and 136 department stores and hypermarkets where traffic is congested in preparation for the holidays.

From the 20th to the 24th, when full-fledged return trips are expected, we plan to manage traffic in congested areas, including 7 highway routes and 78 intersections leading to interchanges, and adjust the signal system at 357 intersections.

Helicopters and secret patrol cars intensively crack down on acts of disrupting communication, such as violating bus lanes, driving on the shoulder, and cutting into congested intersections.

Meanwhile, during this Lunar New Year holiday period, the average daily traffic volume nationwide is estimated to reach 5.19 million, a 23.8% increase from last year's Lunar New Year holiday of 4.19 million.

The average daily traffic volume in the metropolitan area is also expected to increase by 8.8% from 748,000 last year to 889,000.
