Two inventors from Munich have a dream.
They want to put their own solar electric car on the wheels, and they've come a long way.
Sono Motors employs 420 people, the car is almost fully developed, it is to be built by Valmet in Finland, 22,000 customers or better fans have already pre-ordered and paid an average of 2000 euros, and now the dream could still be in the last few meters until the start of series production burst.

18 prototypes of the 4.50 meter long Sion have already been built, but robots and production tools have to be purchased for series production, for which at least another 100 million euros have to be collected from customers or new sponsors.
And until the end of January.
That's why the Sion team is touring around the country and promoting the idea of bringing an inexpensive, compact family car to the market for just under 30,000 euros (without subsidies) with hands-on cars and test drives.
To keep costs down, there's a simple home-made design, only one color (black) and the only extra is a tow hitch.
So all Sions are the same, like Ford's Model T once was.
The engine drives the front wheels, has 163 hp and a torque of 270 Newton meters.
The battery has a capacity of 54 kWh, which gives a range of 305 kilometers.
The special feature of the Sion is its 452 solar cells, which are distributed over the entire body.
On average, they bring an additional range of 112 kilometers per week, "and the sun doesn't write any bills," says Markus Volmer, Head of Development at the Sion.
All the necessary assistance systems are on board.
The Sion will also be able to charge bidirectionally and can pass on its power to other e-cars or e-bikes.
Until the end of the month there will still be dinging, further stations are Bern, Zurich, Innsbruck and Vienna.
The degree is in Munich.
