Today (14th), a pile of rebar collapsed at a new construction site in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, killing one person and injuring two others.

Last year, there were also fatal accidents at other construction sites of the construction companies that were in charge of the construction.

The 119 ambulance rushes into the construction site, and workers flock to the side of the excavator.



At around 7:50 am today, a report was received that a pile of rebar collapsed and a person was crushed at a new construction site for a distribution center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.



In this accident, a male worker in his 60s was found in a state of cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital, but eventually died.



Two other workers were also injured and are receiving treatment at the hospital.

The police believe that a 10m high steel structure collapsed while moving a frame scaffold, a mobile work table, with a crane, causing casualties.



[Police official: While working on scaffolding, I used a crane to move it, but it was caught in a rebar and pulled together, and it is understood that it fell.]



This construction site is a business worth 60 billion won and is subject to the Severe Accident Punishment Act.



The Ministry of Employment and Labor issued an emergency suspension order to the construction site and started an investigation to see if sufficient safety precautions had been taken at the site.

In February of last year, Yojin Construction, which was in charge of the construction, carried out construction in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, but two people died in an elevator crash at the time.
