A 20-year-old man who abused his partner's 4-year-old daughter several times for not being able to speak well was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

The Incheon District Court announced that it sentenced 26-year-old A, who was charged with child abuse under the Child Welfare Act, to six months in prison and two years probation.

In addition, Mr. A was ordered to attend 80 hours of child abuse prevention lectures and restricted from employment in child-related institutions for 3 years.

On July 22 and August 27, 2021, Mr. A was charged with physically abusing his 4-year-old daughter, who lived with him, several times in a building in Incheon.

He was found to have beaten the child with a plastic stick and an umbrella, saying she couldn't speak properly or refused to go to daycare.

Mr. A was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 3 years probation for quasi-rape in December of last year.

The judge said, "Child abuse causes serious damage to children who have weak physical and mental defense capabilities, so it must be eradicated."

Then, the reason for the sentencing was revealed, saying, "We considered the fact that Mr. A admitted to all the crimes and was reflecting on himself, and that he had reached an agreement with Ms. B's mother."
