Winter rain is falling across the country as water vapor from the south flows in.

So far, a lot of rain has been pouring mainly in the mountains and southern coast of Jeju, such as 300mm in Samgakbong in Jeju Island and 73mm in Gwangyang in Jeollanam-do.

Heavy rain advisories are in effect for Gyeongnam, Busan, and southern Jeju Island, and heavy rain warnings are in effect for the mountainous areas of Jeju Island.

17 flights to and from Jeju Airport were canceled due to strong winds.

Mid-January is dry and cold, so it doesn't rain much, but a winter rain like today is unusual.

In Mokpo, where observations began in 1904, 30.6mm of rain fell today, the largest amount recorded in mid-January.

Daily precipitation in various parts of the country, including Paju, Tongyeong, Miryang, Yeosu, and Haenam, reached its maximum in mid-January.

36.1mm of rain also fell in Seoul, the third largest amount ever.

Currently, the rain is stopping from the metropolitan area, but in the future, up to 60mm of rain will fall in the south coast of Gyeongnam, up to 40mm in Jeju Island and the coast of Gyeongnam, and up to 20mm in the inland of Gyeongnam.

Even on the weekend, rain is expected in most parts of the country, but there will be many places where the rain will change to snow as the temperature drops.

In particular, the Korea Meteorological Administration warned against safety accidents such as collapse accidents and traffic accidents, saying that up to 70 cm of snow is expected in the mountains of Gangwon and 20 to 50 cm in the east coast of Gangwon over the weekend.
