A smuggling organization that smuggled methamphetamine in an amount that can be administered to 900,000 people at the same time from the United States has been caught.

It is a methamphetamine smuggled into the country from the United States by a drug smuggling ring.



Prosecutors have arrested and indicted six members of a drug smuggling ring on charges of smuggling large amounts of methamphetamine into Korea from the United States.



In addition, four people were indicted without detention on charges of helping the gang members escape.



It was investigated that they smuggled 27.5 kg of methamphetamine and 800 tablets of ecstasy from the United States through Incheon International Airport and Busan Port 13 times from December 2021 to October last year.



They used a variety of smuggling methods, such as mixing methamphetamine with sugar cubes, aquarium stones, and cereals, or hiding it on chessboard floors and indoor cycle frames at home.



The seized methamphetamine is an amount that can be used by about 900,000 people at the same time, which is 70% of the methamphetamine smuggled in the United States last year.



Prosecutors launched an investigation when they first discovered methamphetamine disguised as special cargo at Incheon International Airport in December of last year.



In addition to the arrested gang members, the prosecution plans to continue the investigation in cooperation with the local investigative authorities on the rest of the gang, including the chief executive staying in the United States.
