A woman in her 30s who seriously injured a passerby with a weapon at a subway station was sentenced to prison in the first trial.

Seoul Northern District Court Criminal 5 Exclusive (Chief Judge Hong Soon-wook) announced today (12th) that he was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison in the first trial of Mr. A, who was arrested and charged with injuring a passerby with a weapon.

Mr. A is accused of injuring his face and neck with a weapon he had on his body for not apologizing after bumping into Mr. B, a man in his 60s, in front of the ticket gate of Changdong Station on Seoul Subway Line 1 at around 4:00 pm on May 17 of last year. .

As a result of Mr. A's crime, Mr. B suffered injuries that lasted for 4 weeks.

Mr. A's assault was not the only one.

On April 13 of last year, he had an argument with victim C and committed assault, such as hitting his face with his palm, and on June 17, he threw a lunch box at another victim D and pushed him, assaulting him once a month for three months worked.

The judge explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "The crime of inflicting serious injury by wielding a weapon to an innocent citizen is serious, and the victims want severe punishment."

In addition, regarding Mr. A's statement that "she carries a weapon for self-defense," the risk of recidivism is quite high.

In addition, it was considered that she had a criminal record of fines and prison sentences for the same crime in the past.

However, the sentence was determined taking into consideration the fact that Mr. A committed the crime while his ability to discern things or make decisions was weak due to schizophrenia.
