A high school teacher has been fined for calling a woman who was a former student at dawn and telling obscenities.

According to the legal community today (12th), Detective 6 of the Busan District Court Western Branch (Judge Kim Hae-maru) fined 900,000 to Mr. A, a high school teacher in his 40s, who was charged with violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (obscene use of communication media). He was sentenced to prison and ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual assault treatment program.

On June 12, 2021, around 2 am, Mr. A was handed over to trial for making a phone call to Mr. B, a student he was in charge of in the past, for obscenity.

He said absurd things such as asking Mr. B, who answered the phone, "Do you have any sexual experience?"

In addition, Mr. A poured out remarks that aroused sexual shame, such as "Do you talk dirty while living with your older brother?", "How many times do you watch porn in a week?" and "Have you ever had a one night stand?"

To Mr. A, who eventually stood in court, the judge pointed out that "the defendant called the victim for the purpose of inducing or satisfying sexual desire and said words that caused sexual shame and disgust."

However, the judge said, "I am seriously reflecting and have no criminal record beyond the same type of conviction and probation in prison."

"If a teacher is sentenced to a fine of 1 million won or more, he/she will be forced to retire from the private school teacher, the circumstances and details of the crime, the petition for leniency from those around him, and the defendant's career," he said.

On the other hand, according to Article 10-4 of the Education Public Officials Act, those who have been sentenced for committing sex crimes against minors or those who have been sentenced to a fine of 1 million won or more for sex crimes against adults are subject to appointment as teachers under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. It is stipulated not to.
