A gang has been caught operating an unregistered pharmacy and selling drugs illegally to foreigners residing in Korea.



Today (9th), the International Criminal Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Investigation Unit of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency arrested Thai drugstore operator A on charges of illegally distributing and selling medicines online (violation of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act) and booked 12 people, including pharmacists and brokers, who supplied them without detention. said he did.



Mr. A is accused of illegally selling medicines by setting up an unregistered pharmacy in an apartment residence in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, from April 2021 to July last year.



Mr. A’s crew prepared about 100 types of specialty medicines that required a doctor’s prescription, including general medicines such as cold medicine and digestive medicine, through general pharmacies and brokers, and sold them through social media.



It turned out that foreigners who had difficulty purchasing medicines due to their illegal status or language communication problems deposited money and sent the medicines by courier to continue the transaction.



Accordingly, the police confiscated 7,465 medicines (equivalent to 54.8 million won) and booked them without detention.



A police official said, "It is a very dangerous act to purchase medicines online without a doctor's prescription and medication guidance from a pharmacist."
