An incumbent police officer refused to comply with the drunk driving crackdown and was caught by the police who followed after fleeing for about 1 km.

According to the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency, Inspector A of a police station in the province ran away yesterday (5th) at around 9:40 pm on a road in Pyeonghwa-dong, Iksan-si, ignoring the stop sign of the police officers for drinking.

Police officers chased Inspector A's SUV for about 1 km and caught him in an apartment complex.

Inspector A's blood alcohol level was 0.142%, equivalent to license revocation. Inspector A was known to have made a fuss while shouting in the apartment complex without responding to a breathalyzer test immediately after being caught.

The police voluntarily accompanied Inspector A to the police station, investigated the basic facts, and returned him.

The Jeonbuk Police Agency immediately released Inspector A from his position.

An official from the Jeonbuk Police Agency said, "After the criminal investigation of Inspector A, he will proceed with the inspection," and "He will respond strictly to drunk driving crimes."
