Civil complaints have been filed that residents are suffering from brown tap water being supplied to apartment complexes in Baegot New Town and Janghyeon District in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, and the authorities have started investigating the cause.

Resident A, who has lived in Baegot New City for 6 years, said in a press report today (6th), "In the apartment complex in Baegot-dong, the color of tap water suddenly turned brown from 1 to 2 weeks ago and the water smelled like metal, so residents scrambled to filter. is installed and used,” he said.

He said, “I also bought a filter about the past two days, installed it on the kitchen faucet, and turned on the hot water. In less than five minutes, the white filter turned light brown, and two days later, it turned completely brown.” There seems to be a problem."

In the Internet cafes of apartment residents in the Siheung area, posts are being posted saying that apartment complexes in Baegot-dong, Jeongwang 4-dong, Neunggok-dong, and Janghyeon-dong are also suffering from reddish-brown tap water.

All of these complexes are supplied with tap water from the Yeonseong Water Purification Plant, so local residents are guessing that it is not a problem with the water purification plant.

Currently, it is understood that about 30 apartments in Baegot New Town and Janghyeon District have filed complaints with City Hall regarding brown tap water.

Siheung City conducted a water quality test on the 4th and 5th in an apartment complex where civil complaints occurred for two days.

A city official said, "In the water quality test for 5 items such as turbidity and residual chlorine, all came out as 'no abnormality'."

The official added, "In order to more accurately determine the cause, a water quality inspection specialist will come out next Tuesday for a detailed inspection."
