Gyeonggi Provincial Office officials were handed over to the prosecution on charges of aiding and abetting the use of corporate cards by Kim Hye-kyung, the spouse of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, and Bae, an aide to Kim.

The anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency announced today (5th) that it has sent two people, including a civil servant A from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office, without detention on charges of aiding and abetting business breaches.

Mr. A and others are accused of aiding and abetting the fact that Mr. Bae paid for Mr. Kim's food with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office corporate card while working as a member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office's General Affairs Division and handling the settlement of corporate card expenses.

The period during which they aided in the use of corporate cards was from July 2018 to September 2021, and the amount of assistance was worth 20 million won.

This is the same as the period and amount of use of the corporate card by Mr. Bae, who was previously sent on charges of breach of trust.

In August of last year, the police sent Kim and Bae on charges of breach of trust in business, and sent A and others at the end of last month, virtually ending the investigation into the corporate card misappropriation case.

It is known that there is no person currently under investigation or scheduled to investigate in relation to this case.

Meanwhile, the prosecutors who took over the case are still investigating without indicting anyone.

In the case of Mr. Bae, he was handed over to trial in September of last year, but the charges applied at the time were publishing false facts and making donations under the Public Official Election Act.

During the 20th presidential election, Mr. Bae took a position to the effect that it was "not true" regarding the suspicion of misappropriation of corporate cards, etc., and was accused of publishing false information. It is about paying for their meal with a corporate card while having a meal with three people related to the Democratic Party.
