It is controversial that a professor who said he would not admit attendance of a student who had no choice but to miss class due to the injury of his grandfather, announced the cancellation, saying that he had to protect his dog's deathbed.

Recently, 'Everytime', an online community for university students, posted on the free bulletin board of Yonsei University Sinchon Campus, 'Professor who said that grandparents are not allowed to attend.

A post with a mixed sigh was posted, saying, “The class was canceled to protect the dog’s deathbed.”

'Everytime' is an anonymous platform that allows university students to sign up only after obtaining school certification, such as a school pass, certificate of enrollment, or graduation certificate.

According to the words of student A, the author, A, who suffered a grandfather's death, asked Professor B to admit attendance because it was difficult to attend class due to the funeral, but Professor B did not acknowledge it.

In response, Mr. A inquired at the department office, but the answer was 'professor's discretion'.

According to Article 22-3 (recognition of attendance) of the Bylaws of Yonsei University, it is said that attendance can be recognized for 'two days until the funeral day in the event of the death of the grandparents of the applicant and spouse.

However, it was explained that attendance for congratulations and condolences was at the discretion of the professor because it was specified as 'can' rather than 'should'.

The problem arose later.

Professor B notified the students of the cancellation, saying, 'You have to protect your dog's deathbed.'

In response, Mr. A responded with absurdity by leaving the words, "Something (something) far away."

While not acknowledging attendance at the grandparents of students taking his class, the professor himself canceled the class for the reason that he had to keep the last side of his dog.

According to the internal regulations of Yonsei University, professors cannot, in principle, cancel classes.

If a class is to be canceled due to unavoidable circumstances, students must be notified in advance, and the class suspension and supplementary plan must be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs after going through the department and university.

Failure to do so may result in disadvantages in teacher performance evaluation.

Upon hearing this news, netizens commented, "Is the life of the student's grandfather worse than his own dog?", "Only my pain is important, and the problem is that I can't sympathize with the pain of others." Say that you can't attend because of this", etc.
