The quarantine authorities have decided to raise the quarantine threshold for people coming from Hong Kong and Macau following China.

This is because, like mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau also judged that the corona was not serious.

As a result of testing on people who entered the country yesterday (2nd), it was found that 20% were positive so far.

Today's first news, Cho Dong-chan, a medical reporter.

is a graph of corona confirmed cases in Hong Kong.

Since the 6th of last month, the rise in new confirmed cases has been almost vertical for a month.

The number of deaths is also increasing rapidly, and the number of deaths per 1 million population is up to five times higher than that of Korea.

Hong Kong and Macau are analyzed to be as serious as the corona situation in mainland China.

However, over 44,000 people entered the country from Hong Kong last month, more than those from China.

[Jeong Ki-seok/Corona 19 Special Response Team: Since it is part of China, it is right to include it for now because of the possibility of entering Korea via Hong Kong or Macau.

That's what the advisory committee thought about.]

However, unlike mainland China, there is no PCR test after entry. From the 7th, only PCR or expert rapid antigen test is required before entry.

An official from the quarantine authorities said that the number of PCR tests at domestic airports cannot be increased at once, and that Hong Kong and Macau have reflected the transparent disclosure of the corona situation.

On the first day, 1,052 people from China entered the country, and 309 test results came out, 61 people, 20% were positive for corona.

All 61 are asymptomatic, requiring only simple isolation.

[Hong Ki-jong/Professor of Microbiology, Gachon University College of Medicine: The number is increasing and the possibility of mutants

is increasing, but it is not easy to draw a conclusion right away about how dangerous it is, and we need to monitor it.]

We plan to adjust the level of quarantine measures by comprehensively considering health conditions and mutations.
