Noh So-young, director of Art Center Nabi, expressed her "disgusting feelings" over the first trial ruling in a divorce lawsuit that excluded SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won's SK holdings from property division.

In an interview with a media reported today (2nd), Director Noh said, "It was an unexpected result," and "It is embarrassing and shameful that the verdict came like this."

He added, "Especially, I feel devastated whenever I hear stories around me that this ruling will become a representative precedent for many people who have been struggling to keep their families divorced by their spouses at fault and not properly receiving alimony and property division."

Director Noh received a first trial ruling to divorce Chairman Choi in December of last year after a lawsuit.

The court ruled against Choi's request for divorce and accepted Director Roh's request for divorce.

However, the court did not recognize the part of Director Roh's request, "Pay Chairman Chey's 50% of SK Co. stocks through property division," and set the amount of property division to be paid by Chairman Choi at 66.5 billion won in cash.

This is because it was judged that stocks were not included in the division as they were 'unique property' acquired by Chairman Choi through inheritance or gift.

Regarding the results of the first trial, Director Noh said, "In the eyes of many people, (66.5 billion won) can be considered a considerable amount," he said. emphasized.

In particular, he criticized "the plan to give back to society through the fields of culture, arts and technology education" and "viewing the division of property only as a concept of support completely denies the meaning of women as social beings."

He said, “The ratio of my husband’s property, which is close to 5 trillion won, is less than 1.2%.” The moment I was evaluated as 1.2%, it seemed that the value of my life was completely ignored."

In its ruling, the court of first instance explained the background of the judgment, saying, "Making business property the subject of property division for the sole reason of indirect contributions from housework, etc. risks making the existence and operation of the business dependent on confidential and private disputes between husband and wife." I did.

Director Noh said, "According to the logic of the first trial, not only the owners of large corporations, but also couples whose husbands run businesses of any size can have an affair husband kick out his wife, who has been protecting the family for decades and helping her internally and externally, without any loss of property. that there is,” he pointed out.

Furthermore, he claimed that he had contributed considerably to the formation of Chairman Choi's wealth.

He emphasized that he focused on improving SK's intangible value, or cultural assets, through Art Center Nabi, though he said, "After marriage, when I had children, I took care of childcare and housekeeping, and my husband did business."

He also emphasized, "During my 34 years of marriage, if I contributed to the value of SK, I never damaged it. Even when Chairman Choi was arrested twice and the company was in crisis, I stayed by his side."

The dispute is expected to continue as Director Noh and Chairman Choi each appeal the verdict of the first trial.
