Last April, a live poodle was found buried in the ground in Jeju, causing outrage.

The dog owner and accomplice who buried the poodle were handed over to trial.

The Jeju District Prosecutor's Office announced that it had indicted dog owner A in his 30s and acquaintance B in his 40s without detention for violating the Animal Protection Act.

The two are accused of burying a poodle alive in an empty lot near a river in Jeju in April.

The poodle, which was buried with only its mouth and nose exposed, was discovered about six hours later by a passer-by who heard strange noises.

At the time, the poodle was said to be shivering and skinny enough to touch the bones.

Mr. A initially stated to the police that 'the dog was lost', but changed his words to 'the dog died and was buried'.

However, as a result of checking the CCTV footage, the police confirmed that the poodle was alive when it was buried.

Now, the poodle has recovered and is said to have found a new owner.
