Millennium Hilton Seoul, a luxury hotel at the foot of Namsan Mountain with a 40-year history, will close on the 31st.

Hilton Seoul has announced that it will close on the 31st through its website.

Built in 1983, the Millennium Hilton Seoul is a five-star hotel with one basement floor and 22 floors above ground, and was designed by Kim Jong-seong, a first-generation modern architect.

A Hilton Seoul official said, "Currently, we are operating a small exhibition hall introducing the history of Hilton Seoul in the lobby," and "a lot of people are looking for it."

Hilton Seoul, which was operated by Daewoo Development, was sold to CDL, a subsidiary of Hong Leung, a Singaporean company, during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) foreign exchange crisis.

Afterwards, it was sold again to IGIS Asset Management due to deteriorating profitability.

IGIS Asset Management plans to demolish the Hilton Hotel and build a complex consisting of offices and hotels.

At one time, there was a voice in the architectural world that the historical value should be preserved instead of demolishing Hilton Seoul.
