Police are speeding up their investigation into a man in his 30s who confessed to the murder of his cohabitant several months ago before the shock of the taxi driver's body was found in a closet.
The police secured details such as the specific time and method of the crime through the suspect's statement, and plans to conduct an underwater search operation by injecting divers near the body's abandonment site.
According to the Ilsan Eastern Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, the warrant review for A (32), who has been charged with murder and concealment of a body, will be held at the Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court at around 10:30 am today.
Mr. A caused a collision with a taxi while driving drunk in Goyang at around 11:00 pm on the 20th. I'm facing charges.
The body hidden in the closet was found by Mr. A's current girlfriend and reported to the police on the 25th.
At the dawn of the same day, Mr. B's family also filed a missing person report to the police.
In addition, Mr. A is also accused of murdering Mr. C, a woman in her 50s who was the landlord and ex-girlfriend, at a house in Paju in early August and abandoned the body in Gongneungcheonbyeon, Paju.
Mr. A claimed that she had been dating Mr. C for several years and that she had been living together since April of this year.
She said that even after she murdered Mr. C, she continued to live in the house and stayed with her new girlfriend.
In a police investigation, Mr. A stated, “After fighting with (Mr. C) and killing him with a blunt instrument, he put the body in a loopback (a device installed to load luggage on the roof of a vehicle), moved it, and abandoned it by the river.”
According to Mr. A's statement, the police started searching for the body, and plan to expand the scope of the search with support from helicopters and underwater divers.
However, it rained a lot in the metropolitan area last summer, and since it has been nearly 5 months since the crime, it is possible that it will take a considerable amount of time to find the body.
Mr. A used the victims' credit cards immediately after the two crimes, and the amount was found to be about 70 million won, including the loan execution amount.
About 50 million won was swindled from taxi driver B's credit card, and about 20 million won was used from her partner C's credit card.
It was investigated that there was even a debt of about 100 million won due to loans in the name of Mr. C, and it seems that the timing of this loan can be accurately confirmed only after the police have received a warrant for seizure of telecommunications and accounts.
Mr. A insists that both crimes were accidental crimes committed in anger, but the police are intensively investigating whether they were planned crimes, considering that both of them obtained financial gains immediately after the crimes.
