Stars, politicians and… the Taliban?

Among the people with the new certification on Twitter, we find indeed Hidaytullah Hidayat, the head of access to information in Afghanistan, reports BFMTV.

Since December 12, 2022, Twitter Blue has made a comeback after undergoing several changes.

The paid subscription, at 8 euros, allows you to obtain the famous little blue tick to certify your account.

And the senior Afghan official, belonging to the Taliban regime, is one of the lucky ones.

Certifications not so well verified

Twitter Blue is currently only accessible in five countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, recalls BFMTV.

Hidaytullah Hidayat, he says, on his Twitter account, that he resides in Afghanistan.

The Taliban official therefore probably used a VPN or a billing address located in one of the countries with Twitter Blue to access the blue sesame.

He is currently the only member of the Taliban government to have the certification.

Irony in this case: Twitter specifies on its page dedicated to certification that an account must not present any deception, manipulation or spam to obtain the blue tick.

The social network also ensures that each certification request is checked by its teams.
